Keeping the marching band organized and moving takes a lot of effort, dedication and a desire to be part of the same family the kids have created.
Do you want to have fun? Do you want to see your band kid struggle and overcome obstacles with the support of 150+ other band kids? You have come to the right place!
Marching Band Parent volunteer responsibilities range from helping to organize and facilitate band camp which can mean you may simply be sitting on the field tending water coolers and administering simple first aid, or setting up scaffolding and assisting with field duties during football games. You may be tasked with helping to serve lunch at any number of functions, or installing bleacher covers on game day. You may be asked to help load the band trailer and transport instruments, or even bring pies from a fundraiser back to the school. It is a diverse program that needs a diverse group of Band Parents to pull it all off. You will be asked to submit to a background check as standard procedure.
If volunteering isn't your cup of tea, the kids always need snacks, drinks, fruit etc. to pull off all day rehearsals and performances. These band kids burn a lot of calories honing their routine while carrying their instruments. Generally, requests for snacks and specific volunteers will be sought through a Sign Up Genius (SUG) that will go out with the band directors emails and posted on the Grand Ledge Bands Facebook Page. Those SUG's will also be posted here.
